That Other Life

My life has been too busy. I know this because I see that life has been going on around me without my notice. This morning, I walked about our property and saw that the rows of pine trees planted as small seedlings early in our days here have grown so high and wide that the path between them is gone. When did that happen?

Bernie and I have talked about what life would be like if we were to survive with only one car. That would certainly be a contribution to the earth. We hadn’t figured on doing that quite yet, but circumstances are such that we may be without the second car for a while, so why not go with the flow and see how it feels? The trees are telling me that it may be a good thing for me to slow down and give some attention to that other life, the one that seems to be taken care of without my intervention and control.
